A Pictoral Record of My Project
A record of a thirty year old dream coming true.
April 20, 2002 - The Trailer Pulls In
In my garage, it must really be mine!
Isn't she beautiful?
That's me behind the wheel.
A hole that needs filling.
Nice interior, huh?
The feds ruined the front with the 5 MPH bumper!
2003 - A donor car is found for the engine and transmission
The engine that will give life to the Torino - yuck!
The crusty 460 on its way out with the help of friends Jay and Jordan
On the stand ready for renewal
The C6 awaits installation
2004 - The engine is cleaned and painted and ready to install - but not rebuilt
Laugh at the color if you like. I don't like it either.
On July 31, 2004 the Torino moved under its own power. Unfortunately, it had zero oil pressure.
The other side. That's the school I administrate in the background. These were taken in October, 2004 just before I took it off the road again.
December, 2004 - I pulled the 460 out and tore it down for a rebuild.
The reason for zero oil pressure - Completely worn out bearings.
Boxed up and ready to go to the machinist.
Ever see a 460 in an Astro van? It's going to the machinist.
March 2005 - Back from the machinist and being built. I have a whole page dedicated to the build up. Click on the link on the left.
Mocked up on the engine stand. Isn't it pretty?
Putting it back in the car. I can hardly wait!
Back in the car and ready to go!
After engine break in, I gave up on my misadventures in rebuilding Holley carburetors and I bought a new 750 CFM Edelbrock.
June 2005 - My son and daughter helped me put the hood back on and then admired my work.
I picked up a tachometer at a garage sale. It even works.
It is a real running, driving car again.
I love the "little bit low in front" stance.
Now I just need to take her to the dragstrip...
